Big Dive 2 discovers the data scientist hidden in you

Pubblicato il 09 Apr 2013

In 2012 the Web of Data became one of the top trend and BIG DATA was probably one of the most used and abused term in the IT industry.
However the growth does not seem to stop and recent estimates from IDC and GigaOM predict that BIG DATA market will be $26B or more by 2016. In other words it seems like 2012 was all about experimentation and setting expectations before the market boost.
After a year spent in setting the problem the real challenge is now to prove the value hidden behind BIG DATA. We need real applications and concrete examples, we need to prove that BIG DATA may drive disruptive changes across economy in businesses such as healthcare, finance, security, logistics, communication and entertainment.
Once again these huge opportunities can be grabbed only through specific competences and skills mastered by dedicated professionals.
Training of these professionals is Big Dive goal.

THE IDEA BEHIND BIG DIVE IS TO BOOST THE GROWTH OF A NEW GENERATION OF DEVELOPERS.

A street-fighting gym where high value datasets are the raw material in the hands of a bunch of ambitious smart geeks tutored and mentored by experts in three key areas: Development, Visualization and Data Science.

Few weeks ago, the call for the second edition of Big Dive has been launched. In 2012, the first edition had 20 participants from 8 different countries and national and international sponsors (like Telecom Italia, 10Gen, Palantir Technologies, Seeweb and Amazon Web Services) trusted the project.
