Plantvoice, the agritech start-up that monitors crop health in real time by analysing plant sap using patented sensor and artificial intelligence technology, which we wrote about here, has announced that it has completed its €500,000 capital increase ahead of schedule.
The Plantvoice solution allows for the early identification of water, nutritional and environmental stress, reducing waste of water, fertilisers and pesticides, improving agricultural yield and increasing crop sustainability. A strategic innovation for the world of precision agriculture, which has already convinced large agricultural producers and attracted the interest of institutional investors.
The recapitalisation was underwritten by La Gemma Venture, a company belonging to the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo; Creazione Impresa, a benefit corporation specialising in consulting for start-ups; the holding company of the Salvi family of Ferrara, which is also a Plantvoice customer, having adopted its devices for its own fruit plantations; and a group of other Italian business angels.
“This is an excellent result that allows us to look ahead with confidence,” said Matteo Beccatelli, CEO and founder of Plantvoice (pictured), in a statement. “We would like to thank our partners who have supported us. In particular, I find it significant that among the subscribers there is also one of our customers who operates directly in the field, producing and selling fruit all over the world, and who has installed Plantvoice on both PinkLady apples and Zespri yellow kiwis to correlate the stress suffered by the plants with the colour, shape and appearance of the ripe fruit. This is a demonstration of confidence in the applicability and effectiveness of our device on a large scale.” .
