Nubo is a start-up that aims to revolutionise the way companies find workspaces. In a market still dominated by traditional players who mostly use analogue tools and generalist portals, finding an office is still a slow, opaque and poorly organised process, with problems encountered by both those looking for the best opportunities and those who have spaces they want to make available to the market.
Nubo’s idea is to combine technology, data and service to bring supply and demand together in a simpler, faster and more flexible way. At the heart of the offering is the technology platform, which is not just a passive showcase but assists customers in the process of scouting, support and data and information management.
“We have exceeded 500 available selections between traditional offices, coworking spaces, desks and meeting rooms, also concluding strategic partnerships with international operators in the sector such as Wework and Iwg (which manages Regus, Spaces, Copernico, ed.),” Laura Berta, CEO and founder of the startup together with Anton Hadzibegic, who is the CTO, told Startupbusiness. (in the photo) – we have reached one million euros in contract value and in the first four months since we renewed our business strategy, we have invoiced 80,000 euros. Our earnings come from success fees paid by property owners and vary depending on the type of contract and offer.
The start-up currently has a staff of four and is working on developing a software platform that simplifies the management of the coworking and office rental process, which is its main target in terms of product. In terms of market, Nubo mainly targets small and medium-sized companies with up to around 100 employees. The start-up currently operates mainly in Italy, particularly in Milan, where supply and demand are high, but it is also looking abroad, where it plans to expand its business, starting with Spain, where it already has locations, and then growing in other countries, focusing mainly on capital cities and large cities.
“Our offer is unique because we support our customers throughout the entire process, from research to negotiations between tenants and landlords,” adds Berta. “For us, both parties involved in the transition are customers, and we treat them as such in order to achieve the greatest satisfaction for everyone. This is something we consider fundamental because it is what allows us to stand out in the highly competitive market, which includes traditional brokers and other digital platforms, mainly in Europe, but which tend to be single-product providers, selling only on-demand meeting rooms or only co-working spaces, while we cover everything: from traditional co-working to desks to meeting rooms. Then there are online real estate platforms such as Idealista and immobiliare.it, but in this case it is a form of hybrid competition, as we also sometimes use their services to promote our offering. Our goal is to transform the office rental process, making it not only more efficient, but also personalised and comprehensive, which we can do thanks to technology.
Laura Berta, who previously worked for Glovo, Luxottica and large-scale retail chains, took her first steps with her start-up thanks to the support of Bocconi4Innovation and Techstars in Turin, and now looks to the future: “Over the next 12 months, we have three key objectives: developing the AI engine, which for us is the match-making algorithm to bring what is currently done in a semi-digital way into the digital realm; covering most of Milan’s assets; and exceeding 1.5 million managed contracts. This is why we are fundraising, which we need to double the team, strengthening especially the commercial and business development figures and the tech side. We plan to enter Europe as our main expansion after Milan, as large European cities have a lot of potential for our model.”
Nubo launched its fundraising campaign just over a month ago: “We are seeking €650,000 and are looking for business angels who have knowledge of the sector and are able to provide us with resources beyond just financial support, such as skills, assets and access to an offline network. This is because real estate is still often a business linked to the concept of ‘handshakes’, which is precisely why we are working on tools that can offer a complete and impartial overview through a single intelligent platform. capable of neutrally comparing hundreds of spaces, coworking spaces, flexible and traditional offices, covering all operators. This means a single point of access to quickly and efficiently evaluate all available options: what would normally require dozens of interactions and several months of negotiations becomes a quick search with our solution and support, thanks to the automatic match function. The result is faster decisions and activation of the lease in just a few days. Our intelligent algorithm is supported by a dedicated team that assists the customer at decisive moments, from choosing the space to signing the contract and onboarding. This approach ensures a smoother and more secure experience, especially for those entering the world of flexible or traditional offices for the first time.
