Auticon, the multinational company with autistic IT consultants

Auticon Italia has announced that it has officially adopted the Benefit Corporation model in accordance with Law No. 208/2015. This decision reinforces what the company aims to represent: a business model in which economic and social value grow hand in hand. Auticon Italia was founded in 2019 with a unique feature in the business landscape: over 80% of its workforce consists of people on the autism spectrum. As a Benefit Corporation, Auticon Italia will pursue its objectives of creating public benefit along three key lines: offering high-value-added technical and digital consultancy services in IT sectors such as data analytics, cybersecurity and software engineering; creating skilled and stable employment opportunities for neurodivergent people; and promoting cultural change within organisations through training and support for neuroinclusion, seen as a driver of innovation and competitiveness.

“Becoming a Benefit Corporation does not change our direction: it reinforces it. We will continue to create fairer professional environments and a society in which diversity is seen as a competitive advantage, with a commitment that is now more structured and focused on the long term,” says Alberto Balestrazzi, co-founder and CEO of Auticon Italia, in a statement.

There are seven objectives for the common good: promoting inclusion in the workplace and valuing neurodiversity; creating neuro-inclusive work environments; providing high-quality, impactful technological services; raising awareness and fostering a culture of neuro-inclusion; promoting people’s well-being and offering professional support; achieving sustainable social and economic impact; and ensuring accountability and transparency towards stakeholders.

Operating in 15 countries, Auticon is the only organisation in the world where the majority of its workforce consists of people on the autism spectrum. For years, it has been translating this identity into measurable impact and has just published its 2025 Impact Report – The Edge Effect: a document that demonstrates the robustness and replicability of this innovative inclusive model. The report reveals that in 2025, Auticon employed a total of 494 people, 373 of whom were autistic consultants, working with 287 client organisations worldwide. 95% of these organisations stated that Auticon’s autistic consultants had added tangible value to their projects, whilst also noting a positive impact on team culture and performance (93%).

The impact on individuals is equally significant. Before joining Auticon, 60% of people on the autism spectrum were unemployed or underemployed, despite 90% holding a degree or a high-level professional qualification: a paradox that reflects the labour market’s contradictions regarding neurodiversity. In addition to IT consultancy, the company also provides training on neuro-inclusion: in 2025, 166 companies worldwide benefited from this to build more inclusive environments.

The organisation was originally founded in Germany in 2011 and has grown over the years, expanding first across Europe to include Italy, France, the United Kingdom and Switzerland as its first markets, then acquired similar organisations in Canada, the USA and Australia. Today, it employs 600 people, 81% of whom are on the autism spectrum, operates in 15 countries across Europe, North America and Australia, and counts many of the world’s leading global companies across all sectors among its clients.
