Neva, a venture capital company belonging to the Intesa Sanpaolo Group and wholly owned by Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Centre, announces that it has been admitted and selected from among several national venture capital operators by the Lombardy Region, through a public ranking procedure, as part of the Lombardia Venture STEP initiative.
Funded by the European Regional Development Fund Regional Programme (ERDF) 2021-2027 and managed by Finlombarda, Lombardia Venture STEP promotes access to risk capital for innovative companies in Lombardy, particularly start-ups and scale-ups, in order to foster the development of critical technologies and cutting-edge innovations that are fundamental to the security, economy and strategic autonomy of the European Union and capable of reducing external dependencies.
Neva has set up a fund parallel to its Neva II and Neva II Italia funds, called Fondo Neva II – Parallelo Lombardia, in which the Lombardy Region has invested €20 million, subscribing to all of its shares, to support the risk capital of Lombardy-based cleantech start-ups and scale-ups that develop technologies for decarbonisation, reducing environmental impact and improving energy efficiency, in line with Action 2.9.2 of the Lombardy ERDF 21-27 Regional Operational Programme.
Neva is committed to contributing an additional €20 million through its Neva II and Neva II Italia funds and to promoting the Neva II – Parallelo Lombardia Fund with the launch of the call for cleantech start-ups in Lombardy. The aim is to attract as many candidates as possible from among cleantech start-ups and scale-ups that have their registered office and at least one permanent operational site in Lombardy, guarantee productive benefits for the region for at least five years and have a technology readiness level (TRL) of 6 out of 9 or higher. Companies willing to move their registered office and at least one operational office to Lombardy before the investment are also eligible to apply. Applications for the call for cleantech startups in Lombardy must be sent by the end of April to [email protected].
“We are delighted to have been selected by the Lombardy Region to support the development of clean technologies for decarbonisation in the Lombardy region,” said Mario Costantini, CEO and general manager of Neva, in a statement. “We offer our expertise in evaluating highly innovative and promising start-ups and scale-ups at national and international level and in managing venture capital funds, which are essential tools for the growth of young companies with great potential.” (photo by Vincenzo Inzone on Unsplash)
