Leather garments become more comfortable thanks to BeDimensional

BeDimensional, a company specialising in the industrial development of graphene and two-dimensional crystals, introduces innovative technology to the leather sector based on the use of B-Leaf, a biocompatible and sustainable hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) crystal, often only a few atoms thick, which increases mechanical strength and improves heat management, making garments and footwear more comfortable and durable.

The technology was implemented on an item presented for the first time at Lineapelle 2025 by Italian tannery Maryam, which used it to create a jacket made from leather treated with products developed by Riverchimica, a company operating in the field of chemical auxiliaries for tanning, integrating BeDimensional’s hexagonal boron nitride.

B-Leaf is an ultra-thin crystal, similar to graphene, with extraordinary thermal and mechanical properties, which can be integrated directly into the wet-end and finishing stages of the tanning process.

Independent laboratory analyses have demonstrated that the integration of this material significantly improves the skin’s ability to withstand mechanical stress and dissipate heat. Specifically:

Greater mechanical resistance: +85% burst resistance, +40% thermosetting resistance; superior thermal comfort: reduction in temperature from inside to outside of 4.5°C in 2 minutes, -8°C in just 30 seconds, +64% heat dispersion speed.

These results show how leather treated with B-Leaf can withstand the most intense stresses while ensuring unprecedented thermal comfort: an ideal solution for high-end sneakers, jackets and leather accessories.

Successfully developed and integrated into chemical auxiliaries for retanning and finishing, B-Leaf is available in liquid and powder formulations, offering tanneries maximum flexibility of use and full control over the desired characteristics of the finished product.
