NTT Data Open Innovation Programme, Heremos and Aven win

Angelini Pharma and Heremos, with a project dedicated to protecting and supporting brain health through a scientific and personalised approach, and Bank of Ireland together with Aven, with a project based on artificial intelligence to support those moving abroad in navigating the world of financial services, have won the fourteenth edition of NTT Data’s Open Innovation Programme.

This year, the programme involved companies from various European countries and Latin America, expanding opportunities for collaboration on a global scale.

The nine participating companies, including Angelini Pharma, Axpo Italia, Fastweb+Vodafone, Gruppo CAP, Banco de Credito del Perù, as well as one of Germany’s leading providers of IT solutions and services for accountants and auditors, selected the nine most promising ideas from over 70 entries received.

These ideas were then developed together during Open Innovation Week, the beating heart of the initiative, through workshops, discussions and mentoring, culminating in the presentation of the projects and the awarding of prizes to the winners, as decided by a jury composed of industry experts, journalists (including us at Startupbusiness) and representatives of the innovation and start-up ecosystem.

This year’s winners are: Angelini Pharma and Heremos with a project dedicated to protecting and supporting brain health through a scientific and personalised approach, combining advanced digital technologies with a scientifically validated Brain Health Score to promote awareness, prevention and long-term mental well-being (pictured at the award ceremony) and Bank of Ireland and Aveni with a project that promotes an inclusive and accessible banking model based on Artificial Intelligence to support those moving abroad in navigating the complex world of financial services.

“Innovation is not just about introducing new technologies, but knowing how to imagine new ways to improve people’s lives. At NTT Data, we believe that innovation comes from discussion and working together. We collaborate with customers, start-ups and partners to develop solutions that make technology more useful, more inclusive and more closely aligned with the real needs of society. Initiatives such as the Open Innovation Programme are a tangible example of our commitment to people’s well-being and the development of the social and economic fabric of local areas, both today and in the future,” says Ludovico Diaz, CEO of NTT Data Italia.

“The Open Innovation Programme demonstrates how collaboration can accelerate responsible innovation. By bringing together customers, start-ups and NTT Data experts, we co-create solutions that combine technological excellence with social and environmental responsibility, generating lasting value for businesses and society,” says Marv Mouchawar, head of global innovation headquarters.

Energy optimisation for water systems, data-driven acquisition of SME customers, mental and cognitive health with AI support, predictive cybersecurity: these are some of the challenges launched by companies on Discovery, the NTT Data platform that collects and systematises companies’ proposals, facilitating connections between start-ups and corporations and accelerating the co-creation of innovative solutions.

In the previous edition, awards were given to projects presented by Credit Agricole Bank Polska, which collaborated with the start-up Myriad AI to develop a solution based on autonomous AI agents capable of supporting regulatory compliance management in the financial sector, improving efficiency and reliability, and by IP Gruppo API, which launched a project with the start-up Qsee, focused on the use of artificial intelligence to optimise profitability, sustainability and the quality of refining processes, achieving a significant reduction in CO2 emissions.

The event’s operational partner is a start-up called Smartway, which has developed a digital platform specialising in organising events in unique locations, in this case Montepulciano in the province of Siena, using the offsite app, developed to make participant engagement more fluid and interactive.
