Sella focuses on venture capital with the creation of Sella Direct Ventures, a new division that coordinates all of the Group’s proprietary venture capital activities and operates with a dual strategy combining direct investments in start-ups and specialised venture capital funds.
Sella Direct Ventures’ activity, which aims to promote and support innovation, is structured around two synergistic areas: direct investments, which focus on acquiring stakes in mainly European early-stage companies active in the fintech sector and in emerging technologies related to innovation and financial inclusion, and investments in funds, which concern vertical and generalist operators, with a particular focus on early-stage funds and a geographical focus on Europe and North America. Sella Direct Ventures has a team of professionals with consolidated experience in the world of venture capital and innovation, both in Italy and internationally.
Sella Direct Ventures operates as an investor in the early stages of start-up development, mainly in the seed and Series A phases, with average investments ranging from €250,000 to €500,000, also providing strategic support for the various needs of companies. Sella Direct Ventures can count on the Sella Group’s long history of innovation and its more than twenty years of experience in venture capital, which has enabled it to build a portfolio of over one hundred investments in funds and start-ups.
“With Sella Direct Ventures, we are strengthening our commitment to innovation by investing in entrepreneurial ventures and specialised partners who share our vision. The creation of this new area represents a further step in our commitment to supporting the development of an open, modern and forward-looking financial ecosystem,” said Giacomo Sella, head of corporate & investment banking (pictured), in a statement.
The launch of Sella Direct Ventures is part of the Group’s broader open innovation strategy, aimed at fostering an innovative and collaborative financial ecosystem. Thanks to its integration with Sella investment banking services, the fund of funds activity of Sella Venture Partners, the Sella Group’s asset management company for alternative investments in venture capital reserved for professional clients, Fabrick’s technology platform and the Fintech District community, Sella Direct Ventures can benefit from unique synergies to support innovation and the development of new business projects.
