French & Motion is a French scaleup that develops an innovative technology behind wearable airbags designed for motorcyclists,<\/strong> skiers, and horseback riders.<\/p>\n

The technology is made up of both the actual product that has been on the market for about 5 years and the company’s ability to constantly collect data relating to the various cases, aggregated data that it collects through the device itself, to continue to improve the product that already has a reaction and protection capacity in almost all cases in which accidents or falls occur.<\/p>\n

After winning the trust of over 80 thousand motorcyclists in France and Germany, In&motion is now aiming for Italy, in collaboration with Tucanourbano, a brand headed by the Mandelli company<\/strong> that was born as a bicycle manufacturer but which in recent years has acquired various brands, including Tucanourbano, expanding its activities also in the field of motorized two-wheelers.<\/p>\n

The product, in its version that integrates In&motion technology with Tucanourbano, takes the form of a specially designed jacket that can be used both under a more traditional motorcycle jacket and as a stand-alone product and is available in both the version for male and female users, it is called AirScud.<\/p>\n

Remi Thomas, co-founder and CEO of In&motion tells Startupbusiness: “The company was born about 10 years ago, the first years were dedicated to the development of the product that has been on the market for five years, now our goal is to conquer the Italian market together with our partner Tucanourbano<\/strong> we have developed the solution that can already be purchased at a price of about 300 euros to which is added a subscription of 12 euros per month that It allows users to receive constant updates and support.”<\/p>\n

In&motion already has a turnover of around \u20ac10 million, makes a profit and has raised \u20ac25 million in financing in both debt and equity. Among the investors there is also 360Capital: “We are increasingly looking at deeptech and In&motion, in addition to having its own sophisticated technology, also has recurring revenue due to the subscription that users make in order to be able to receive the rescue service and updates,” says Emanuele Levi, partner of the investment fund.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We use the data collected in aggregate form,” adds Thomas, “we currently record about 15 incidents a day among our 80 thousand users and with this information, thanks also to the use of artificial intelligence, we are able to constantly improve both the product and its ability to respond<\/strong> and therefore ensure the right protection. Today in Europe there are no laws that oblige you to wear the airbag as it happens for example with the helmet but we notice that more and more motorcyclists decide to equip themselves with the system because they understand its function that we can literally define as vital, this both on the road and on the track, in competitions today everyone uses forms of protection of this type, Not necessarily our product, but there is a sensitivity that concerns all motorcyclists who participate in competitions at various levels”.<\/p>\n

The business of In&motion, a company that employs about 80 people, is so solid that Thomas admits that there is an annual loss of about 5% of subscriptions, which comes almost exclusively from people who have decided, for one reason or another, to stop riding motorcycles.<\/p>\n

Marco Biollo, CEO of Mandelli, during the presentation event of the partnership with In&motion and the AirScud product, highlighted how this partnership is strategic in the development of the Tucanourbano brand, which today meets the needs of motorcyclists in every season<\/strong> and contributes to increasing the safety and comfort of those who ride a scooter or a scooter.<\/p>\n

Among the users of the device there are also motorcyclists who have experience of competitions such as Marco Melandri who has raced in both MotoGP and Superbike and Jacopo Cerruti who races motorcycle rally races<\/strong> and who confessed that he feels much less safe today if he does not wear the device. In addition, In&motion also has a collaboration agreement with Liberty Rider, the app that provides information and assistance services to motorcyclists that can be associated with AirScud and acts as a sort of guardian angel capable of tracking any dangerous situation, fall, accident and in the most serious cases even automatically sending help.
