Exein, a scale-up pioneering integrated cybersecurity, which last year raised \u20ac170 million across two funding rounds \u2013 \u20ac70 million in July 2025<\/a> and \u20ac100 million in December 2025 <\/a>\u2013 has announced the launch of its Asia-Pacific headquarters with the opening of its office in Taipei, Taiwan. The new hub will serve as a regional operational and technological base, collaborating with Taiwanese and APAC partners to establish a new global standard for runtime cybersecurity within the IoT ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n

With the evolution of international regulations such as the CRA, device-level security has become a key issue and a priority for the global industry. Exein aims to leverage Taiwan\u2019s strategic position and global leadership in the semiconductor and electronics manufacturing sectors to promote the development of runtime technologies and strengthen the IoT security ecosystem. This enables Taiwanese and APAC manufacturers to meet \u2018security by design\u2019 requirements with confidence, supporting access to global markets such as Europe and incorporating protection directly at the device level. <\/p>\n\n

The number of IoT devices continues to grow rapidly: it is predicted that the number of connected devices worldwide will exceed 25 billion by 2030, the scale-up states in a press release. This growth also expands the attack surface, as a third of cybersecurity vulnerabilities are associated with IoT devices, making endpoints a prime entry point for cyberattacks. Exein addresses this issue by providing AI-based runtime protection technology, embedded directly into devices and firmware. The technology detects anomalous behaviour and potential threats in real time during operation, whilst keeping the impact on performance below 1%. This capability enables manufacturers to meet global cybersecurity regulations and compliance requirements. <\/p>\n\n

The Asia-Pacific region has become a key growth driver for Exein, currently accounting for almost 50% of the company\u2019s global revenue and set to grow fivefold by 2025. In this context, Taiwan, with its central role in the semiconductor and electronics supply chain, has become a critical gateway for the deployment of device cybersecurity and a hub for the export of global standards. Through the establishment of the APAC operations centre, Exein will further strengthen its collaboration with local chip suppliers, ODM\/OEM manufacturers and system integration partners. Security mechanisms will be integrated into product design and development processes, enhancing device security capabilities at source. <\/p>\n\n

Exein is committed to setting a new global standard for embedded security through strategic partnerships across Asia. A key pillar of this effort is the integration with MediaTek Genio, which provides IoT manufacturers with native real-time threat detection and automated vulnerability reporting. Recently, Exein has also entered the server market through a collaboration with Aspeed to integrate Exein Runtime into their BMC chips. As Aspeed holds the majority of the global market share, this partnership consolidates Exein\u2019s role at the heart of the world\u2019s data centre infrastructure. Advantech and Aaeon were among the other major players invited to the ceremony, alongside government representatives, underscoring Taiwan\u2019s crucial role in the company\u2019s growth. <\/p>\n\n

Gianni Cuozzo, founder and CEO of Exein (pictured with Gerardo Gagliardo, CFO, Gary Walshe, CCO, and the APAC team), said in a statement: \u201cOur expansion into the APAC region represents a crucial step in Exein\u2019s global growth.\u201d <\/strong>\u201cTaiwan lies at the heart of the global technology supply chain, and establishing a presence here allows us to work more closely with the companies that are shaping the next generation of connected devices. Contesti e visioni per l\u2019impresa\u2019 , l\u2019edizione italiana di \u2018La startup digitale, guida pratica step by step\u2019 e ha scritto la prefazione all\u2019edizione italiana de \u2018La quarta era\u2019 di Byron Reese, ed \u00e8 co-autore di \u2018Cosa e Dove: strategie digitali di ricerca del lavoro\u2019, tutti editi da FrancoAngeli.
