The 2026 edition of the IoMobility Award, which recognises companies and start-ups driving innovation in the mobility sector and of which Startupbusiness is a partner, reached its conclusion with the awards ceremony. This year, for the sixth edition of the award, the ceremony formed part of the programme for the Next Mobility Exhibition (NME), hosted by Fieramilano. <\/p>\n\n
There are numerous awards, divided into category-specific prizes, which were awarded following the deliberations of a jury of around 50 people who assessed the large number of start-ups and companies that entered the competition. <\/p>\n\n
In the \u2018Energy for Mobility\u2019 category, the award went to Powandgo, a Brescia-based company that operates a network of private electric vehicle charging points and has introduced an electric charging-sharing system that enables individuals and businesses to offer, book, manage and monetise charging points, thereby expanding the network without the need for new public investment.<\/p>\n\n
In the Innovative Parking category, the award went to ParkSmart, a company based in Catania that develops hardware and software systems for computer vision integrated with smart payment systems. The company presented a platform comprising high-performance IoT devices capable of processing high-resolution video streams, extracting information about the scene and sending it to the cloud in compliance with the GDPR.<\/p>\n\n
The consortium comprising Arriva Italia, Gruppo Brescia Mobilit\u00e0 and Conduent has won the award in the Enabling Services category. Arriva Italia and Brescia Mobilit\u00e0 operate in urban and suburban public transport, whilst Conduent develops technological solutions for public transport, with a focus on payment systems. Together, they have implemented Italy\u2019s first fully integrated contactless payment system across urban buses, the underground and suburban buses on a provincial scale, with automatic journey recognition and selection of the most cost-effective fare. <\/p>\n\n
In the LPT (local public transport) and MAAS (mobility as a service) category, the winner was Btinkeeng, a Trentino-based company that develops digital solutions for mobility and public and private transport. The company presented the ToWay project, a smart mobility app that allows users to plan and track journeys, monitor their environmental impact and earn points that can be converted into rewards, thereby encouraging sustainable behaviour.<\/p>\n\n
Voltaage, a Paris-based company with a local office in Turin, has developed a digital twin that integrates data on the electricity grid, traffic, parking, demographics and land use to forecast charging demand and suggest the optimal installation sites for 22 cities, providing technical and economic justifications for each recommendation. The company won the award in the Municipality category. <\/p>\n\n
In the Mobility Management category, the judges chose to award the prize to Flowy, a Florence-based start-up that presented the Flowypass project. This offers local public transport systems a beIn-beOut ticketing system \u2013 modelled on the motorway Telepass system \u2013 for public transport passengers, eliminating any need for passenger interaction to ensure a seamless travel experience. Flowy is also the winner of the Startupbusiness special prize and will therefore be the subject of an in-depth feature in an article to be published in the coming weeks. <\/p>\n\n
In the \u2018Autonomous \/ Innovative Equipment and Vehicles\u2019 category, the winner is Ses4mo (Soft-In), a Turin-based company specialising in hardware design and software development for high-tech embedded systems. The Ses4mo project addresses one of the most critical challenges facing urban mobility: the protection of vulnerable road users, particularly cyclists and motorcyclists, who remain largely excluded from current cooperative and connected mobility systems.<\/p>\n\n
Ccamon, a company based in Afragola that provides services to optimise traffic flow, road safety and the quality of life for citizens, has won the award in the Smart Roads category. The company offers a modular ecosystem for cooperative, connected and autonomous mobility, designed to provide on-demand services that can be tailored to the needs of public authorities, private companies and public transport operators. <\/p>\n\n
The winner of the award in the Sustainability, Inclusivity, welfare and training is the Ferrara Mobility Agency, which plans, coordinates and promotes local public transport and integrated sustainable mobility solutions. The agency presented the AgriBus and AgriMove services \u2013 shuttle and controlled carpooling schemes designed to improve mobility for agricultural workers, reduce road risks and combat illegal hiring practices, combining social impact with sustainability.<\/p>\n\n
Doctorbike, a Rome-based company offering a digital platform and operational network for electric micromobility support, which coordinates on-site technical interventions, fleets, users and bike repair shops, ensuring a continuous, traceable and scalable service, has been selected by the jury to receive the award in the Fleet Management Software and Services category. <\/p>\n\n
In the Fleet Sharing, Platforms and Rental category, the award went to Maxi-mobility, a Milan-based company that provides electric fleets for taxis, private hire vehicles and businesses through a \u2018fleet & charge as a service\u2019 model, which covers the cost of the vehicles, charging and integrated services to reduce costs and emissions and simplify management.<\/p>\n\n
In addition to the category prizes, there are special prizes; as well as the aforementioned Startupbusiness prize, there are <\/p>\n\n
The ADR Mobility Special Award has been presented to Parkit, whilst the ACI Special Award goes to Home2Car, a company based in Latina founded in 2025 that develops a digital platform to promote electric vehicles. The platform helps users assess the suitability of an electric vehicle, the total cost of ownership, charging habits and actual energy costs, etc., to generate qualified leads for dealerships and charging partners. Digital Voice awards its prize to Webfleet, which presented an integrated AI-based predictive maintenance solution that uses diagnostic data and machine learning models to identify the risk of breakdowns before they occur, reducing downtime and maintenance costs. The special Smart Communities Cluster award goes to Easyvia, a company based in Benevento, for its end-to-end platform for road surface management: proprietary sensors and cloud-based AI detect road surface defects to support maintenance planning and management. The solution stands out for its ability to foster meaningful dialogue between the public and private sectors, starting with the pilot project in Benevento and successfully scaling up to the complexities of Naples, thereby demonstrating genuine replicability and solid, structured growth. As part of this award, a special mention also goes to Societ\u00e0 Unica Abruzzese Trasporti, which manages 60% of public transport in Abruzzo; organised into a Road Division and a Rail Division for passenger and freight transport, it presented a project to reorganise the public transport service across the entire region, with a focus on road-to-road and road-to-rail intermodality. Through an innovative approach to redefining public transport in inland areas via the digital integration of on-demand and scheduled services, the project harnesses technology as a tool for social inclusion, providing a valid, replicable and scalable model for all mountainous and inland areas of the country. <\/p>\n\n
Wimit \u2013 an acronym standing for Women in Mobility, Infrastructure and Transport \u2013 has awarded its special prize to Udine-based Willeasy, which presented the AccessiNeTEx project, implementing the first use in Europe of Level 5 of the NeTEx protocol for public transport accessibility in Turin. The Rising Star award, presented by Unicredit StartLab, went to Bettersea Power, a Rome-based company that presented a project for a modular and universal solution for jetties, comprising walkable photovoltaic panels, fenders with skimmers and fast-charging points with sensors for monitoring water quality. Finally, the special ITS Move award goes to Autoguidovie for the Academy project. Autoguidovie has been a public transport operator since 1908; with this project, it offers free training and professional licences through a guided programme that supports those seeking a new future, combining sustainable mobility, inclusion and job stability. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
