€1.3 million funding round for Sirius Game’s edutech

Sirius Game, an EdTech start-up based in Bressanone, South Tyrol, with its operational headquarters in Trento, has announced that it has closed a €1.3 million funding round. The round is led by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, with participation from Trentino Invest, Ultra VC, 28Digital, and Add Value, confirming the project’s strategic importance at EU level as well.

“As Trentino Invest, we have chosen to invest in Sirius Game because of the potential of the tool it has developed, which has the power to bring about profound innovations in teaching, making learning processes more modern, accessible and engaging. We believe that Trentino, with its autonomy and focus on young people, is the ideal setting in which to develop this project, which, in addition to its many applications in schools, can also be applied in the fields of corporate training and lifelong learning for adults,” said Fulvio Rigotti, President of Trentino Invest, in a statement.

The capital raised will enable the start-up to strengthen its structure and embark on a new phase of growth, focusing on two main areas: consolidating its presence in the Italian and international education sectors, and accelerating its expansion in the corporate training segment. Thanks to this funding round, Sirius Game has also launched “JOY”, a new educational product for primary schools, in collaboration with the La Scuola publishing group and the University of Bolzano.

Sirius Game aims to make learning more engaging, effective and long-lasting, complementing traditional educational models to overcome their limitations.

At the heart of Sirius Game lies a problem common to both schools and businesses: learning is often still perceived as passive, unengaging and with a limited long-term impact. Sirius Game addresses this challenge with a game-based learning model, grounded in scientific evidence and applicable to a variety of educational and organisational contexts. Through storytelling, challenges and interactive activities, people learn actively across the real and digital worlds, developing transferable skills such as critical thinking and collaboration.

Founded by Laura Cesaro, an entrepreneur in the education sector with over ten years’ experience spanning academic research and practical application, Sirius Game emerged from the convergence of pedagogy, technology and social impact. During her international career, following her studies at UCL and Harvard, Cesaro has worked in a wide variety of settings, from educational programmes in fragile contexts to large international organisations, thereby developing in-depth expertise in the design of innovative, evidence-based educational models. Over time, co-founders Fabiana Gubitosa and Miriam Torregrossa also joined Sirius Game, creating a shared vision of education as a lever for social impact and an all-female founding team (pictured).

“This round marks a key milestone for Sirius Game: it allows us to expand the impact of our model and bring game-based learning to a wider audience, in schools and businesses across the globe. “We’re not talking about making learning more fun, but more effective and lasting,” says Cesaro, CEO of the start-up. “We want to demonstrate that learning can be engaging and rigorous at the same time, helping people develop skills that are truly useful for dealing with change.”
