Hong Kong has opened the OPC Hub @ Cyberport, its first platform dedicated to ‘one-person companies’, and has launched the Web 4.0 Agentic AI Security Alliance, with the aim of strengthening the city’s role as a global hub for digital innovation.
These initiatives form part of a wider strategy by the Hong Kong government to embrace agent-based AI and blockchain. Cyberport, one of the city’s leading technology hubs, has set up the OPC Hub as an operational base for individual entrepreneurs and small teams working in the field of artificial intelligence. The facility offers co-working spaces, computing power, model credits, cloud services, training, access to investors and cybersecurity support.
Thanks to access to infrastructure and networks, OPC Hub aims to enable individuals to build scalable businesses without the traditional fixed costs, said Cyberport’s chief executive, Rocky Cheng. Tasks that once required large operational teams can now be handled by AI agents.
The event was attended by industry leaders, academics and government representatives, underscoring the strategic importance of Web 4.0 development. The OPC Hub is open to applicants from all over the world, provided their projects are closely linked to AI agents, blockchain or applications specific to the financial sector.
Cyberport has also announced the Web 4.0 Agentic AI Security Alliance, which brings together twelve leading cybersecurity providers: 360 Digital Security Group, Beosin, Blocksec, Certik, DAS-Security, FORMS HK, Hillstone Network, Integrity Technology Group, Nyxlab, Qingteng Cloud Security, Sangfor and Slowmist.
The alliance will focus on cross-sector collaboration, the identification of best practices and the management of risks associated with agent-based AI and blockchain. Its mission is to build a trustworthy ecosystem that accelerates adoption whilst protecting against emerging threats.
Cyberport is home to over 2,300 start-ups and technology companies working in AI, blockchain, smart city solutions and digital entertainment. With the OPC Hub and the security alliance, it is positioning itself as a pioneer of Web 4.0, which integrates artificial intelligence, blockchain and the programmable internet into a true ‘programmable economy’.
