Pubblicato il 25 Feb 2013

Girls in Tech Paris and Orange launched the 3rd annual Lady Pitch Night, a competition for European startups with at least one female in the founding team.

This event, launched for the first time in France in January 2011, is aimed to give more visibility to women entrepreneurs and encourage gender equality in the tech sector.

Roxanne Varza, co-founder of Girls in Tech Paris (and well-known for her blog Techbaguette) said:

“When we started this event in 2011, it was only open to France. Last year, we decided to open it up to all of Europe and I was really pleasantly surprised to see how many female entrepreneurs there were all over the continent ! In just a few weeks, we had over 60 applications from 11 different countries ! This year, I am hoping we can reach even more entrepreneurs in more countries.”

In Italy, where Girl in Tech has recently launched the Italian chapter (Startupbusiness announced it via Wired.it), some female, digital, beautiful startups are showing great creativity and “out-of-the box” thinking, we are talking about Timbuctù, Atooma, RisparmioSuper, Urbano Creativo, HR Jungle, Formabilio, Frestyl. These startups represents already for many girls an incitement to launch themselves in the entrepreneurial arena.

“There are more and more female founders also in Italy and the most of the time the few we have are really brilliant. – said Anna Sargian, founder of Girls in Tech Italy – We would really love to see all these female entrepreneurs pitching at an international event as The Lady pitch night.”

So, who can apply to Lady Pitch Night?

All female technical startups (internet, mobile, video games, electronics, etc.) that are no more than 3 years of age, have their HQ in a European country and at least one female in their founding team can apply before March 10, 2013 at this URL.

Five finalists will be invited to pitch at Orange’s Jardins de l’Innovation in Paris, France on April 4, 2013 before a jury of experts, investors and well-known entrepreneurs – as well as an audience of 150 people.

All applications and presentations must be done in English to respect the European nature of the competition.
