Italia startup visa, non European citizens can now easier come to Italy to develop their startups

Pubblicato il 25 Giu 2014

Italy launches the startup visa in order to facilitate non European Union citizens to come to the Country to develop their business ventures. The initiative by the Ministry of Economic Development and Ministry of Foreign Affairs allows non-UE citizens to request a specific visa if they present their business idea that will be evaluated by a specific committee. If the idea will be considered interesting as long as the resume of the proponent the special startup visa will be granted in about 30 days. The procedure can be even more quick and effective if the proponent already has an agreement with a certified incubator that will host him or her and will also finance the venture.

With this project Italy is further developing the framework to support innovative entrepreneurs and to open the door to non European citizens that are interested to develop their ideas in Italy and of course Europe. This initiative can also become an interesting way to contribute to create a wider innovative ecosystem connecting Europe with the Mediterranean Area for example.
The project was presented yesterday by the Italian Minister of Economic Development Federica Guidi and was hosted by the Rome based incubator Luiss Enlabs that is placed within the main railway station of the Italian capital city.
