Beautiful, stunning and the place where people from all over the globe will
gather at the Hofburg Imperial Palace to experience the #1 event for the start-up world.
From the 29th to the 31st of October, STARTeurope goes beyond expectations to celebrate
entrepreneurship and the future of innovative technology. International pioneers and up and
coming trailblazers will gather at the Hofburg Imperial Palace, for the Pioneers Festival.
60 world-class, international speakers including Adam Cheyer (Founder of Siri, Director of
Engineering Apple IPhone) Esther Dyson (VC, Author and Backup Cosmonaut), Stefan
Glänzer (Europe’s most active Business Angel), Matt Mullenweg (Founder of WordPress)
and many more industry leaders will split up into two tracks:
The Trailblazers Track gives insights into the future of MedTech, hosts discussions on
Web/mobile topics and is showcasing incredible products like the $1Mio fastest electric
supercar, while hosting the crazy Clash of the Founders battle and will be home to our very
intense Pioneers Challenge. The Track is designed to inspire the audience, have great
discussions and explore the future of technology innovation.
The Startup Academy concentrates on sharing know-how and experiences. Every day and at
every conference we are confronted with success stories: Entrepreneurs laying down
impressive numbers, showing what they have achieved. This is absolutely fine. However, as
an entrepreneur listening, you are rather interested in how to get to those numbers. What steps
did they take to promote their startup, how did it work out with funding, how did they figure
out their business model, how did they scale and execute strategies, etc … That is the knowhow that current entrepreneurs are looking for in order to boost their ventures and this is what
everyone will learn at the Startup Academy.
The centerpiece — the Startup Challenge: The 50 top start-ups
It’s incredible: More than 850 start-ups from 58 different countries and every single continent
applied for the Pioneers Challenge, but only ‘the outstanding 50’ will be invited to the
Pioneers Festival itself and are thereby one step closer to claiming the 25,000€ prize money
and the Pioneers Award. The selected 50 are just as international as the applications: Eight
teams are from Germany and seven from Austria. The UK and Spain have four teams; Russia
and France are represented by three teams each; and Poland, Luxemburg, Italy, USA and
Sweden claim two teams each. Furthermore, Israel, Finland, Ireland, Romania, India,
Slovakia, Portugal, Switzerland, Ghana and a global team are in the Top 50 — represented by

team behind the Pioneers Festival has a huge heart for start-ups, they offered a bonus: For all
applicants who will buy (or have already bought) a startup ticket, there is a great lottery,
including prizes such as: 30 x 90 seconds live elevator pitch on the Startup Academy stage,
5 x participation in the exclusive speakers dinner and 1 x private talk with one of the hottest

Besides the main event, there will be a bunch of free focus events that you can join at any
time from October 29th to October 31st all over Vienna and even abroad, including London
Portugal and New York City. To give you an idea of what’s going on: Pioneers Festival is
teaming up with Dreamstake in London, to discuss the vibrant start-up scene there, and a
special opportunity to join forces with General Assembly in New York City through
livestream. Additionally, the European Entrepreneurship Foundation and Startup Pirates are
organizing a gathering of entrepreneurs for networking and discussions.
The Pioneers Festival is like no other conference you have ever attended The Conference
Days are a mixture between discussions, speeches and interactive workshops with topics
concerning entrepreneurship, innovation and technology, but we also infuse the energetic free
spirited feeling of a festival through entertainment, extreme sports sessions, gaming sections
and a party marathon from Monday through Wednesday and on October 31st, the spectacular
grand finale closing with a freakin' huge Halloween after party. It´s just a different kind of
