In Turin, the future of cities is being discussed with Sharing Idea, I3P and PWC

‘Building solutions for the future of cities’ is the title of the event taking place in Turin on 26 May 2026, of which Startupbusiness is a partner, and which is based on two key factors: the need for innovation in an industrial context closely linked to the automotive supply chain and urban regeneration; Turin’s new town plan was presented after thirty years (the previous one dating from 1995) and was published in March 2026, setting out the rules for building the Turin of the future. 26 May 2026 will be the very first day on which the new master plan comes into force.

These two aspects converge in three key areas: industrial regeneration, urban regeneration and the creation of ecosystems.

In the context of urban regeneration, it is important to emphasise how innovation ecosystems are becoming key distinguishing factors that are essential not only for fostering a sense of place, but also for strengthening opportunities for industrial clustering within a specific sector. Consider, for example, the cases of MIND for the human sciences in Rho (Milan), DAP in Grugliasco (Turin) and the aerospace district, not to mention leading international examples such as Silicon Valley – to name the best known – which provide opportunities both to drive industrial regeneration and to become centres of attraction.

Sharing Idea, in partnership with PWC as its innovation partner and with the support of I3P, has decided to organise ‘Building Solutions for the Future of Cities’, exploring the interconnection of these three themes, during the first edition of Turin Future Week, which will take place from 25 to 31 May 2026.

The event on 26 May will take place at EDIT-Space for people, a landmark venue where former industrial spaces have been given a new lease of life through the innovative catering services of Edit (formerly Banca Brignone, acquired by Intesa) and Open Incet, an innovation hub established with the support of Turin City Council.

In the morning, there will be an institutional panel featuring contributions from, among others, Andrea Tronzano, Regional Councillor for the Development of Productive Activities and SMEs and the Budget, and Chiara Foglietta, Councillor for the City of Turin responsible for Ecological and Digital Transition, Innovation, the Environment, Mobility and Transport, alongside Vincenzo Tanania, partner at PwC Italy and innovation lead.

Following the panel discussion, there will be a pitch session dedicated to showcasing innovative start-ups and scale-ups for whom regeneration, conversion and innovation are key principles underpinning their day-to-day operations.

The hackathon will take place this afternoon, with technical guidance from PWC and I3P

The call for ideas is open until 7 May 2026; on 15 May, selected participants will receive an official invitation to the hackathon. The hackathon is aimed at innovative start-ups, spin-offs and research teams, high-tech SMEs, innovators and freelancers. The specific themes selected are: smart mobility, energy and urban regeneration, urban health and wellbeing, AI and data, IoT and smart infrastructure, Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing.
