Wopta Assicurazioni, an insurtech company founded to protect families, businesses and professionals from everyday risks, has announced that it has closed a €5 million funding round, bringing the total raised since 2022 to over €20 million and valuing the company at over €100 million. The transaction was carried out with the support of Make Your Credit, an Italian fintech company specialising in credit advances and structured finance, and is therefore not entirely equity-based.
The capital raised in previous years was subscribed by over 70 Italian families and business angels through five investor club deals, including: Holding B3 (Calzedonia Group), Guido Fucina, Giorgio Gori, Carlo Fagioli, Alcide Leali (Lefay Resort), Guidotti (Azimut), the Macchi family, the Cammi family, Ettore Riello, Davide Parenti, Massimo Ambrosini and Cristina Parodi.
The scale-up has achieved a positive EBITDA, 12 months ahead of schedule, with €5 million in revenue and over €20 million in brokered premiums, more than 4,000 distribution partners on its proprietary Wopta platform, and over 220,000 insured customers. The results confirm the scalability of the model developed by Wopta: an integrated platform that combines tangible products, digital technology – including Anna, the AI Agent supporting customers and ‘wopters’ – and human interaction, thanks to local insurance partners and professionals.
Further momentum has been provided by external growth, with the aim of combining scale with customer proximity, consolidating a platform based on regional hubs and close integration between technology and distribution and underwriting capabilities. With its first two acquisitions, Wopta is expanding the group’s distribution capacity, strengthening services for SMEs, professionals and the motor segment, and improving overall margins through its phygital cross-selling model. These are Zanni Broker, based in Capriolo (BS), an intermediary with strong roots in the Lombardy region and an established portfolio serving SMEs and retail clients, and GM Insurance Broker, based in Bergamo, a broker specialising in corporate and professional clients, with extensive expertise in corporate risk management.
“We have demonstrated that our model works. Now we want to bring it even closer to businesses and local communities that often struggle to access adequate insurance cover. The first two acquisitions are not merely financial transactions: they represent Wopta’s way of putting down roots in the real economy, helping to support it and bridge the protection gap. For us, growth means standing shoulder to shoulder with the country and its productive system. We do this with the best technology, the advice of our Wopter team and the trust of our partners and stakeholders, to offer a service that protects the work of those who produce and create value every day,” commented Vincenzo Macaione, founder and CEO of Wopta Assicurazioni (pictured), in a statement.
